Form I-9, is a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services form and is known officially as the Employment Eligibility Verification. It is mandatory that each new hire have one on file and is used to verify the identity and legal authorization to work of all paid employees in the United States.
Employees must complete and sign section 1 of Form i-9 no later that the first day of employment, but not before accepting a job offer. Idyllic Mobile Notary serves as an Authorized Representatives for employers and helps complete the verification process required by law as part of e-verify.
As an Authorized Representative, Idyllic completes the Review and Verification Process by completing section 2 of the form and by physically examining the ID being presented. A list of acceptable documents will be provided by your employer.
Having Idyllic Mobile Notary complete this verification process within 3 business days of your first day of employment is a Federal Requirement.
The form is updated by the USCIS periodically, so employers should verify that they are using the current version of the form. Nadim always carries the most recently updated form with him.
Employees may fill out section 1 of the form prior to the appointment or while in front of the notary. Once completed, the employee must provide appropriate identifying documentation from list A, B, or C as explained in the instructions.
Section 2 is completed by Nadim, who will serve as your Authorized Representative for purposes of verifying ID and completing the form.
Nadim physically examines each ID document to determine if it reasonably appears to be genuine, and related to the employee presenting it.
He then completes section 2 by entering the document title, issuing authority, numbers, and expiration date, if any, from the original documents the employee presented.
The penalties for 1-9 paperwork violations range from $252 to $2,507 for the first offense. The range is $1,161 to $2,322 for second and subsequent paperwork offenses.
